RE: Beware of Camping World!!!!

Not just camping world. Someone will always defend the indefensible. Buyer beware. When you buy from a dealer. you buy from Shylock, as is where is. Expect nothing more.

RE: I can’t be the only one with a poorly designed black tank.

Maybe if you dumped some Galgon into your tank every time you dump, the black tank sidewalls will be too slippery for solids to stick. Maybe not the same but our recently sold 88 C had all tank gauges still working. We never had any build up. Good luck.

RE: Strong urine smell in bathroom

"...5 pages of trying to help." Bingo. Off on a tangent, the issue of determining if a wastewater vent is...well, venting. If there's a removable rooftop rain cap over a vent, then you could likely drop down a piece of sprinkler pipe or other pokin' stick to check for an obstruction. But if the cap is permanently fixed, perhaps you could tie a large nut (as in nut and bolt) or similar to a heavy string and feed it down the vent pipe, see what that reveals. Or run an electrical extension cord past the cap, something substantial yet flexible. I wonder if anyone has ever ran water from a garden hose down a roof vent or if that's even a good idea since it's an air vent rather than a water pipe.I was ignored by the dealer, bot the good folks here/ As for the 300 model toilet, based on prior posts... -Research the 300 further online. -Replace the seals (may not permanently resolve). -Replace toilet. -Keep toilet in place but attempt to seep full-strength, non-bleach antibacterial cleaner past the seals to kill off odor in the accumulated liquid goo (kill the bacteria = kill the odor). -Dump several pails (at least 5 gal) of water down the toilet at the start of each trip to dilute subsequent blackwater contents, but not so much as to impact tank capacity. -Spritz the entire toilet bowl with any household spray cleaner after each use, or a few times each day, a supplemental detergent "flush." -Spray an antibacterial cleaner along the bottom of fixtures near the toilet (walls, bathtub, cabinets) so that it seeps under the fixtures and contacts anything yellow that could have gotten down there. (If you KNEW that was a problem, an enzyme pet urine spray may be a better choice.) -Try a different blackwater chemical treatment if necessary.

Strong bathroom. urine smell

This is a follow up to issues we had last spring. Prior to winterizing, I opened the Dometic 300 toilet and again saw yellow water sitting above the seal. RV dealer did a bunch of unrelated bs, tried to charge me over 400 to flush my sewer system, then returned it to me. That was last spring. They ignored and deflected my suspicion of a faulty toilet. They will take no responsibility or offer a solution. I guess I will have to do it myself. Color me disgusted.

RE: Strong urine smell in bathroom

Our new to us trailer on it's first voyage has a strong urine smell beginning in the bathroom and after pumping permeates the whole trailer. It's a dometic toilet. It appears to be tight and no seal leaks, I could find. I suspect it's a venting issue. Granted, it was 90 and we stayed hydrated so there is that. But black tank level was 1/3 full. We have not used any tank chemicals other than Galgon to this point. Follow up....Prior to winterizing, I opened the Dometic 300 toilet and again saw yellow water sitting above the seal. RE: Electrical Question-Breaker panel does not cut all power

You state "Starter" Battery. What is your definition of that. ANY dealer that installs a NON deep cycle battery is NOT a dealer I would trust. Now to the draw, you have found the main draws. The radio and the wall tstst. ANOTHER draw that few realize is the TV antenna Booster. These are usually out of sight and are easily forgotten. Another draw is the LP detector. Some OEM's install direct to battery and bypass any possible OEM battery disconnect. A long shot and I have seen it numerous times is, The Emergency Break Away towing Brake switch. For some reason some RVers pull the lanyard loose to act as a emergency brake while camped or stored. This will burn out that switch unless the battery gets depleted quickly. Now, IF you have a NON deep cycle battery(starter), then if drained dead a few times, it is now a boat anchor. You will never get it to full charge and stay charged. The best way to store a Towable with 1 or 2 batteries is to pull the battery/s when storing and put in garage and install a Battery Maintainer to keep it fully charged. It takes less than 5 minutes to pull and reinstall. DougGreat points.

RE: Electrical Question-Breaker panel does not cut all power

"I'm a fossil fuel guy. Have a Honda 3200i. It sips fuel and is quiet." It's relative, but personally I've never encountered a quiet generator in a campground, same for gas lawnmowers -- they all detonate atomized gasoline, not a quiet endeavor. You can invariably hear them in adjacent campsites. It's partly that reason I only disperse camp, so I don't have to listen to the generator in the next space for hours. I'm more into the sights and sounds of nature. A Honda generator costs around $2,500, whereas my $200 solar panel charges my trailer battery in as little as 30 minutes. I don't don't use AC or a microwave, so I have no use for a generator.I'm happy. You're happy. that is the goal, right.

RE: Electrical Question-Breaker panel does not cut all power

You might look into a small solar panel too for camping. I have a portable 100 watt panel and dearly love it. It will even charge on a modestly overcast day, although of course it takes longerI'm a fossil fuel guy. Have a Honda 3200i. It sips fuel and is quiet.

RE: Electrical Question-Breaker panel does not cut all power

^Yup, need to disconnect at battery to cut all draw. If you have let battery deplete several times already, you may have shortened it's life. JerryUpgrading the tinker toy battery furnished is already on the list>.So is a cutoff switch.

Electrical Question-Breaker panel does not cut all power

Hi folks. Another understanding "new school" technology question. Dealership did supply new battery when we picked her up this spring. It's a cheap starter battery, but another time. We have come home from a few trips now and parked it on the drive. I go out in a few weeks and all is dead. I check the front mounted battery and it is dead so on the charger it goes. Let me say that we dry camped with a genny once and had full hookups another time. So the battery wasn't taxed while in the campgrounds, Happened again. Back on the charger Everything dc is running while on the charger. Ok fine. There is some draw while parked, so I should turn off all the breakers. But I notice the onboard stereo is still lit and the thermostat is still lit with all breakers off. Might there be an isolation switch I haven't found? I disconnected the ground on the battery. I'll be upgrading that anyway. Thoughts please.

RE: How to release drawer from glides.

depends on the drawer. i've run across two basic types. in each there is a release on the bottom of the glide...either close to the front or farther back. they either lift up or push down. one type lifts on one side while oushing down on the opposite side.Found them. Thanks. Also the valve is a bypass to suck up the pink stuff.

How to release drawer from glides.

Getting ready to winterize our new trailer. It's a 20220 Braxton Creek .I've located the water pump behind my kitchen drawers and that seems to be the only access. I can't find a release so I can remove the drawers and access the water lines. All I can find on the glides is BRDsupply.com and made in China. Also, there is a zone valve on the blue water line next to the pump. What is that for?

RE: Winntec 6020 propane regulator

If that's the indiator I think it is some of that type of indicator show RED for Empty and Green for anything other than empty and some show NOTHING for "Other than empty". To find out.. Turn on both tanks then turn off the valve on the SELECTED tank with a burner on the stove lit heating water for tea.... IT should swiftly go red.. Have someone monitor the stove to insure it does not go out. (IF it does shut it off before re-opening tank valve)Great suggestion. I love the wisdom here.

Winntec 6020 propane regulator

We are still learning the new systems. The indicator light at the front of the valve shows no color, red/green. I move the switch between tanks and it displays nothing. I read that this valve had a recall in 2021. Out unit is a 2020 likely built earlier. Is there a way check if it's working? Other than convenience, is there a problem with continuing it's use?

No smell issues or other problems. It appears that at warm outdoor temps, the fan or other strategies must be employed for the bathroom to clear of smell because air will not vent through the stack efficiently enough to do the job. Aside from spray cover-ups, there will be a smell issue in the bathroom.

RE: exterior solar plug

Do you have solar panels on the roof? Have you tried to follow the wires leaving the jack?Currently we have no solar but I am curious to learn what is connected to what. We don't dry camp often and have a genny we really love.

RE: exterior solar plug

That depends on what is after the jack. If there is a charge controller after the jack, then Bob's your Uncle. Add solar panels. If not then panels connected to a charge controller, and connect the controller output to the jack.there is no charge controller in the inverter/converter onboard then?

exterior solar plug

Our 2020 travel trailer has an exterior jack labelled "solar". What do I need upstream of that plug to charge my house battery? I assume these jacks are standard so some "plug-and-play" connectors also exist. Thanks in advance.

RE: Strong urine smell in bathroom

In an earlier post you were trying to conserve water by only flushing urine after a few uses. The forum suggested flushing after every use. Now that the dealer has supposedly cleared a clog are you still flushing after every use? Or are you now letting the yellow mellow in the bowl between uses? When flushing does the fresh water appear to fully wash down the sides of the bowl? Here's a thought to determine if the smell is leaking out of the black tank or if it is leftover in the bowl after flushing. Turn off the water supply and turn off the water pump. Hold the toilet flush open until the pressure is out of the lines. Now get a gallon of Pine Sol and carefully pour it all into the tank while somebody holds the flush valve open. Turn on the water supply and put some water in the toilet. Run the vent fan and purge the Pine Sol smell out of the bathroom. Let it all sit in the heat and come back later and check for smell. Do you smell Pine Sol after a few hours?Excellent suggestion. We have been flushing regularly and allowing extra water to wash down. I will be doing the pinesol test. thanks.
